CALGARY GUITARIST DR. BRAD MAHON AND ONTARIO NATIVE PATRICK FEELY PRFORM AS THE "EAST WEST GUITAR DUO", JANUARY 30, 2:00 PM AT THE BRANTFORD ARTS BLOCK, 80 DALHOUSIE ST. BRANTFORD ONTARIO
Canadian guitarists Patrick Feely and Brad Mahon met through their mutual association as examiners with the Royal Conservatory of Music in 2008. Recent performances have included the “Friends of Guitar” Festival in Brantford, Ontario. The 2010-2011 season will see the duo performing in Alberta and Ontario. Their forthcoming CD will include works by Brouwer, Machado, Mozart, L’Hoyer, and Debussy.
Patrick Feely is a member of the Faculty of the Arts at McMaster University and of the College of Examiners with the Royal Conservatory of Music. He holds an A.R.C.T. in Performance, and a Masters of Music Degree in Performance from the University of Toronto. This season Patrick will be in recital at Convocation Hall at McMaster University as part of the “Visiting Artists Lunch Time Series,” as a featured performer with the McMaster University Orchestra, performing the "Concerto del Sur" by Ponce.
Brad Mahon has been a member of the music faculty at Mount Royal University since 1997 where he instructs classical guitar, coaches chamber music, and administrates the Strings’ Program. A sought after teacher, he is also a seasonal/part-time instructor at four other post-secondary schools and he is an examiner with the Royal Conservatory of Music. This season Brad will perform Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez with the Calgary Civic Symphony and be a featured artist, judge, and clinician at the 20th annual Northwest Guitar Festival and Competition.
